A candle for the memory of the souls

Lighting a candle for the memory of the soul is an ancient and holy Jewish minag.  In Sefer Mishlei is written: ‘נר ה’ נשמת אדם’, and from this we learn that there is a direct connection between the soul of man, and the candle lit for the ascension of his soul, and that by the power of lighting a memorial candle for the soul of a person, to do well with him in heaven.  In the books of Kabbalah there is much talk about the soul’s pleasure from a candle that is lit for his ascension.  We at the Shomea Tefilla organization have taken it upon ourselves to work for lost souls, and to light memorial candles for them, at all times around the circle of the year, when it is customary.  Here on the website, you can take part in our holy activity and give your donations for the benefit of those lonely souls, and do real ‘Chesed Shel Emes’ .
