Writing a Sefer Torah is a tremendous privilege, which few words can claim to serve as an adequate expression of its greatness.

 In Sefer Devarim we command thus:  ‘ועתה Stay לכם את השירה הזאת’, and this is the last mitzvah of the תרי”ג (613) mitzvot.

 One of the most powerful and eternal ways of commemorating the deceased is writing a Sefer Torah in his honor, when every word that is read over the years from the Sefer Torah written in his name, becomes a mitzvah, which in the Torah becomes another step in the spiritual ladder on which the soul will climb and ascend to a higher place in heaven.
