All because of one Kaddish!

In the book “Tovcha Yabiu” there is a story about a Mashgiach at a guest house in Moshav Shoresh in the Jerusalem mountains, who used to organize a minyan for Mincha every day at the rest house. And here it happened one day that the tenth for the minyan was missing. The Mashgiach went outside, and met a farmer who was dressed in shorts and looked like a simple Jew in every way.

When he offered him to join the minyan, the man did not know what he wants and what a minyan means. After he explained to him the importance of the mitzvah, he agreed to enter the synagogue. After Kaddish, before the crowd began to pray, a religious guy entered the synagogue, and then there were already ten even without the farmer, who indeed left the synagogue and went to his home.

Almost ten years have passed since the incident. The Mashgiach left the guest house a long time ago and moved to Bnei Brak. One night he sees in his dream the farmer who joined the minyan, and his face is radiant, the man is telling him that he died about a month ago, “And you have no idea what kind of reward I received in heaven for agreeing to complete the minyan for you.”

The deceased added that thanks to that mitzvah that he did, they gave him an opportunity to appear to him in a dream and ask him to go to his only son who lives in Jerusalem, and convince him to say Kaddish for him. He gave the son’s exact address, and the thrilled Mashgiach did fulfill his request and managed to convince the son to say Kaddish for his father.

Compare in your mind: what did that farmer from Moshav Shoresh do? Just agreed to join a Minyan. that’s it. no more than that. And what a reward he received for this to the extent that they gave him permission to be revealed after his death!

It can be learned from this story, the value of every small step we take on the way to holiness..
