The non Jewish judge praised the Kaddish
An story that happened to a rich Jew who died in the USA and bequeathed a large fortune to his son who was a big kofer, and in his will he conditioned the inheritance only if the son will say Kaddish on him.
The condition was not liked by the son, who considered the prayer for the ascension of the father’s soul “religious coercion”, and went to court. The judge, who was not Jewish, asked to know what was included in the text of the Kaddish, he received a prayer book translated into English, and when he saw the interpretation of the Kaddish he was very surprised and said:
“How dare you claim that there is a religious compulsion in saying Kaddish?! After all, there is not a single word here related to the deceased, and the Kaddish does not speak about raising the soul of the dead, but only about the spread of God’s morality in the world, about the beautiful laws in the Torah that will increase in the world, and about peace, and that the principles written in the Bible (which is accepted by all the nations) will spread all over the world, and God’s teachings and his good deeds with mankind will be published in the world”.
The judge did not agree to the son’s claim, and ordered him to say Kaddish, and if he refuses, his right to inherit his father would be forfeited.
